The 28th International Student Conference on Electrical Engineering will be held on May 23, 2024, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, CTU Prague. The authors will register for the Conference by submitting either an extended abstract (2 pages) or a full paper (4 pages) according to their preferences. Authors may specify if they do not wish their extended abstracts published. Authors of work published elsewhere may participate without the possibility of publication in the Conference Proceedings and participation in the Best Poster Award Competition. Such authors are invited to contact the Organizing Committee. Detailed information is on the conference homepage.

On January 12, Dr. Ľuboš Čirka successfully defended his habilitation thesis. As part of the defense, Ing. Ľuboš Čirka delivered the habilitation lecture on the topic: "Database system NORMAN: collection and evaluation of data on emergent substances in the environment". We congratulate and wish him a successful presentation at the Scientific Council of FCHPT STU!
On January 11, bachelor students at IAM defended their interesting semester projects focused on process management, automation, and practical applications of artificial intelligence.
On January 9, IAM master students: Martin Bíreš, Richard Fodor, Lukáš Lukča, Vanesa Madleňáková, Olivér Mészáros, Hamid Ullah Rashedy, Matej Ružička and Martina Tomaškovičová defended their semestral projects.
On December 13-15, 2023, we joined the 62nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC 2023), Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. We presented 4 research papers to the worldwide audience:
- Kristína Fedorová – Yuning Jiang – Juraj Oravec – Colin N. Jones – Michal Kvasnica: A Generalized Stopping Criterion for Real-Time MPC with Guaranteed Stability (presented by Ing. Kristína Fedorová)
- Juraj Holaza – Lenka Galčíková – Juraj Oravec – Michal Kvasnica: A software package for MPC design and tuning: MPT+ (presented by Ing. Lenka Galčíková)
- Michaela Horváthová – Lenka Galčíková – Martin Klaučo – Juraj Oravec: Real-Time Optimisation-Based Robust Control: Heat Exchanger Comparative Analysis (presented by doc. Ing. Martin Klaučo, PhD.)
- Roman Kohút – Erika Pavlovičová – Kristína Fedorová – Juraj Oravec – Michal Kvasnica: Real-Time Deep-Learning-Driven Parallel MPC (presented by Ing. Roman Kohút).
We are authors of a new paper in the prestigious international scientific journal Expert Systems with Applications:
Marek Wadinger, Michal Kvasnica: Adaptable and Interpretable Framework for Anomaly Detection in SCADA-based industrial systems
On December 13, 2023, IAM students visited Slovnaft as part of the course on Modeling in the Process Industry. As part of the excursion, students attended a lecture on the overall processing of crude oil from delivery up to final products. Students visited the control rooms, where they had the opportunity to see the industrial control screens, the room for DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and APC (Advanced Process Control).
On October 18-20, 2023, IAM masters students trained at the Training Center in Litvínov, Czech Republic. The training led by expert practitioners was focused on the process control of industrial plants. Our students improved their knowledge and practical skills necessary for addressing the industrial challenges.
Presentation of the Institute of Information Engineering, Automation, and Mathematics, FCHPT STU discussions about cooperation at ENSIC Nancy with Dimitrios Meimaroglou and Razak Latifi.
