Assesment methods:
Students will write 2 quizzes during the semester. The sum of points for the quizzes is 40. Students will successfully pass the quizzes if they earn at least 22 points. Students also have to pass the written exam. The maximum number of points for the written exam is 60 and the students will pass the written exam successfully if they earn at least 34 points. Students will get credits for the course if they successfully pass both, the written tests and the written exam. Students are graded as follows: A 92–100 points, B 83–91 points, C 74–82 points, D 65–73 points, E 56–64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students have knowledge of making static websites. They are able to create simple web pages. They know fundamentals of HTML and CSS.
Course contents:
1. Static and dynamic pages, web technologies -- HTML and XHTML, creation of html documents (allowance 1/2)
2. XHTML: structure of XHTML document (head, body) (allowance 1/2)
3. XHTML: text, links, numbered and unnumbered lists (allowance 1/2)
4. XHTML: graphics, tables (allowance 1/2)
5. XHTML: forms (methods, form elements, attributes), evaluation of form data (allowance 1/2)
6. XHTML: frames, applets, servlets (allowance 1/2)
7. CSS: introduction to formatting using cascade styles (allowance 1/2)
8. CSS: colour, font, alignment, links (allowance 1/2)
9. CSS: numbered and unnumbered lists, borders, background (allowance 1/2)
10. CSS: classes and identifiers (allowance 1/2)
11. Practical webdesign: planning, design (effective navigation, colours, text, graphics, animations), publishing, maintenance (allowance 1/2)
12. Google - search, Gmail, YouTube, Picasa, Blogger, Talk, Earth, Maps (allowance 1/2)
13. Google - Images, Video, Book Search, Calendar, Documents, Notebook (allowance 1/2)
