Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student will acquire knowledge and skills in balancing the mass, energy and momentum through understanding and mathematical description of the physical mechanism of transport of substances, momentum and heat transfer in selected technological processes and equipment. At the same time will also control the groundwork for energy management media integrating material and energy flows.

Course contents:
1. Material and energy balances (allowance 6/20)
 
a. Material balances
b. Enthalpy balance connected with heating, cooling systems, including changes in the latent state
c. Material and enthalpy balance of reactive systems

2. Fluid flow and device for mechanical operation (allowance 9/10)
 
a. Balance of mass, momentum and energy flow of fluids in pipes
b. Transport of fluids and fluid transport equipment
c. Mechanical operations and equipment for technology (mixing, filtration, fluidization, sedimentation)

3. Heat transfer and heat exchange equipment (allowance 9/15)
 
a. Mechanisms of heat transfers, heat transfer intensification
b. Heat exchangers,their types, characteristics, calculation of heat exchange surfaces
c. Isolation, design calculations
d. Evaporation of liquids, types of evaporators

4. Basics of energy technology (allowance 12/15)
 
a. Principles of management of energy media
b. Production and the efficient use of water vapor, steam turbines
c. Manufacture of compressors and compressed air
d. Cooling in chemical and food technology

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:
Lectures and seminars are close-knit. During the term the control computing tests are written continuously.
Assesment methods and criteria:
The condition for obtaining credit is in addition to participation in exercises and the successful solution of homework. Exam consisting of theoretical and calculating part.
