Assesment methods:
Student will successfully pass the exam. The maximum number of points for the exam is 16. Student will pass the exam successfully if he is earned at least 9 points. Student will get credits for the course if he successfully passes the exam. Student is grade as fallow: A 15 – 16 points; B 13,5 – 14,5 points; C 12 – 13 points; D 10,5 – 11,5 points; E 9 – 10 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The student is oriented in fundamentals of philosophic thinking. He is able to identify the principles, phases, methods and forms of scientific knowledge. He obtains the knowledge about philosophic and environmental questions of techniques and about principles of individual, social and environmental responsibility of engineer.
Course contents:
Nature of Philosophical thinking. Man to world relationship - cognitive, value and practical levels of this relationship.
Structure, importance and responsibilities of philosophy. Ontology. General philosophic orientations.
Gnoseology - sensual, rational and irrational levels of knowledge.
Philosophy as methodology of sciences. Prae-scientific, extra-scientific and scientific knowledge.
Scientific knowledge: Primary mental processes.
Scientific research methods: 1th phase - empirical research.
Scientific research methods: 2th phase - logical processing of empirical data.
Scientific knowledge forms: hypothesis, scientific principle and scientific theory. Modelling, scientific explanation and prediction.
Philosophic questions of techniques. Techniques, culture and nature.
Impact of techniques on destiny of humanity and nature.
Humanisation of nature by technique and its consequences.
Environmental crisis and its philosophic-ethical reflection.
Individual, social and environmental responsibility of engineer.
