CONTROL SYSTEM OF AN AUTONOMOUS HELICOPTER MODEL

Abstract

This contribution presents the control system of an autonomous helicopter model. This model is used as an ultimate proving ground and test bed for various control algorithms and real-time operating systems. Newly developed control algorithms may show here its qualities in praxis, as helicopters are very complex, hard-to-control non-linear and non-stable systems with six degrees of freedom. In this paper we present mainly the hardware solution of the controller, which is a lego-like distributed computer system consisting of various functional blocks, utilizing bus architecture. At the end of this paper we also present a preview of the software, currently being developed for this system.
