MULTIFUNCTION PROCESS MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL TEACHING SYSTEM

KADLEC, K.

Abstract

The Laboratory of Measurement and Control Technology on the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology has been equipped with a new laboratory station PCT 40 of ARMFIELD that provides a multi-functional system intended for teaching process measurement and control. In the operation of this teaching system students will acquaint themselves with the properties of various measurement  control systems, the methods for obtaining information on particular control loop variables (disturbance variables, controlled variables and manipulated variables), the methods for transmitting such information to a computer and the methods of process control as well. The computer-controlled system allows studying the basic principles of measurement and control of various processes and can be easily re-configured to monitor the temperature, pressure, flow-rate or level within a process. Using additional devices the capacity of the basic module may be extended by the control of the chemical composition of a medium. The available software comprising many functions and options makes possible to record the courses of measured and controlled variables in the real time. Students are able to change process control parameters and analyse the process course for various system configurations.
