NONLINEAR DYNAMIC MODEL OF STEAM CONDENSER

KUKAL, J.; KMÍNEK, M.

Abstract

Any steam condenser exhibits asymmetric dynamic behavior. Let the flow of cooling water be system input and the temperature of condensed steam be system output. The response to unit positive step (flow increasing) is slower than the rapid response to unit negative steps (flow decreasing). This asymmetry is a good argumentation against linear dynamic model. The aim of our paper is to design and identify the simple possible nonlinear model of steam condenser with similar asymmetric response. The hierarchical nonlinear model of third order consists of three parts: input linear, hidden nonlinear and output linear. The nonlinear part is based on diode like characteristics in feedback. Real data were measured on the laboratory unit of thin film evaporator with steam condenser. All the calculations were performed in the Matlab environment.
