SOME COMMENTS TO AIRCRAFT APPROACHING PROCEDURE IN HORIZONTAL PLANE

PECH, Z.

Abstract

Modern aircrafts are currently equipped with Flight Management System (FMS) that with their subsystems of automatic flight control (AFC), autopilot (AP) and other subsystems automatizes almost the whole flight including approaching procedure from middle approach to do final one according to weather traffic minima. In this article is discussed problem of one part of this final flight phase, the approaching in horizontal plane, which starts as the first generally in the zone of middle approach. In this article are described in more details the heading maneuvers accomplishing this procedure including basic control laws of separated steps with their variables. After that continues approach in precise localizer beams. Describing of this problem starts by kinematical scheme of this flight followed by derivation flight kinematics equation. The common block schema of control system for these two phases is presented. It contains three basic blocks: plant-aircraft with dynamics stabilization by means of autopilot, block with localizer flight kinematics with its non-linearity and course non-linearity, the third block is flight control system generating command signal for aircraft guidance during horizontal approach phases. Control algorithm is here simply presented in analogue form by means of block scheme with two nonlinearities.
