SATELLITE IMAGES IN ENVIRONMENTAL DATA PROCESSING

Abstract

The paper presented deals with various types of satellite data. It discusses methods of satellite data obtaining, of common coordinates used and problems which need to be solved in order to transform the satellite images from one coordinate system to another, to allow for their further processing in respect of environmental data concerning air pollution, including application of denoising and filtering methods. Besides of an interesting overview of the satellite data issues, their use in environmental data processing is discussed, further related research and results, as well as utilization of GIS systems in the area concerned.
