MULTI-AXIS SERVO SYNCHRONIZATION

PŠENIČKA, J.; BURGET, P.; BAYER, J.; KIRCHMANN, B.

Abstract

Modern servo systems use motors of small dimensions with high power and torque ratings. They also use high-speed real-time communication networks to interchange data and synchronise one to another. We have developed a 4-axis model with Ethernet Powerlink which demonstrates the multi-axis synchronization and real-time communication using Ethernet-based protocol. The control has been realised in two ways: (a) centrally, where all necessary servo actions are computed continually in the central control computer, and (b) using CAM profiles, where the trajectories are loaded into the servo drives and then the drives synchronise mutually without intervention of the control computer. Internet visualisation and simple manipulation can be performed.
