DESIGN OF CONTROL METHOD FOR DISTILLATION COLUMNS

KARŠAIOVÁ, M.; BAKOŠOVÁ, M.; ONDROVIČOVÁ, M.

Abstract

An organisation of a multilevel control system is proposed. The redundancy of information exchange between neighboring elements is used to compensate for partial communication breakdown. This method with cooperation can be used on the control of distillation columns. In the paper an organisation of a multilevel control system is described. A control system organisation, decentralised control method distributed database and information exchanges are the more important aspects in the design and realisation of the distributed control system. There is no general methodological approach to solve the global problem of design of the distributed control system and all its elements from algorithm, hardware and software points of view. One of the problems faced by the distributed control system is the reliability and robustness. Usually, the reliability aspect is treated independently only from one point of view; algorithm, software or hardware. The solution based on the redundancy solves one part of the problem and seldom the proposition takes into account hardware, software and algorithm in the same time. One direction on this way is a common study for hardware redundancy and algorithmic information coherence. This way exploits hardware in a better manner to improve the control performance. It is able to use a multi-microprocessor network as a basic structure for the real time control algorithm. The structure of these algorithm tolerates a breakdown of some network elements, microcomputers or communication lines. A representation of the physical system by several models can be central role in the control design. An association between models and microcomputers in a real time parallel structure gives the basic tool to design the control system then. The multi-model parallel control structure can be used for multivariable control of the nonlinear or the time variant system. A simplified representation in the hierarchical control leads to the proposition of the coordinated decentralised control structure where the cooperation between interconnected systems plays the important role.
