PROCESS MEASUREMENT PROJECT IN TEACHING MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL TECHNOLOGY

KADLEC, K.; MACHÁÈ, J.

Abstract

Individual projects, involving the preparation of proposals for a process measurement system, are assigned to students. In their engineering practice the graduates are often required to submit the proposal for a technological measurement and to choose a suitable sensor type. Such proposal should be evaluated in terms of its technical and metrological parameters, economical costs, maintenance requirements and suitability for the technological conditions in question. In making the proposal and selecting specific measuring equipment one has to evaluate the situation on the market that might offer various alternatives and options for solving the problem of concern. In the teaching process, this situation may be simulated by the assignment of an individual project of process measurement. The assigned project may address the needs of the special branch studied by the student, who can apply the knowledge acquired not only by the study of the M&C, but also by the concrete engineering specialisation. The teaching of M&C is especially suitable for the inclusion of projects as it allows real situations to be modelled in the teaching process though a quite non-violent way. The contribution describes the structure of the assignment itself and the elaboration of process measurement projects using concrete project examples.
