- Course unit code:
- N422U0_4B
- Course unit title:
- Introduction to Process Control
- Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:
- lecture – 1 hour weekly (on-site method)
laboratory practice – 1 hour weekly (on-site method)
- Credits allocated:
- 2
- Recommended semester:
- Biotechnológia – bachelor (full-time, attendance method), 4. semester
Potraviny, výživa, kozmetika – bachelor (full-time, attendance method), 4. semester
- Level of study:
- 1.
- Prerequisites for registration:
- none
- Assesment methods:
- The students write 2 written tests during the semester. They write also tests at the beginning of laboratory verifying the readiness to practice. They write reports of the individual assignments. The final rating is calculated as follows: 10% tests from the laboratory, 30% reports, 30% each written test. The final rating will be determined in accordance with rules established by the study rules STU.
- Learning outcomes of the course unit:
- Students know fundamentals of modelling and control of processes in chemical and food technology. They are able to develop simple models of tanks, heat exchangers and chemical reactors using experimental-statistic methods. They know principles of on-off and PID controllers. They are able to choose the structure of PID controllers and to tune the controller parameters. They have learned basic control principles of processes in chemical and food technology. They understand the technological schemes with measurement and control loops.
